Aberystwyth, Ceredigion

The pier and breakwater embracing Aberystwyth harbour date back to 1836, but the entrance was only ever marked by a large flagstaff, sending signals to approaching mariners. It wasn’t until the mid-1990s, when the harbour was redeveloped into a marina for leisure sailors, that the current lighthouse was erected. The prefab concrete tower, painted green and white, is topped with an electric beacon.
