This harbour light once shone from a seaward-facing window at the top of the square tower attached to a watchhouse. It replaced an earlier tower that was added when the pier was built in 1816, which in turn had replaced two small octagonal lighthouses on the inner piers flanking the narrow harbour. The building is now occupied by GeoMôn, the UNESCO Global Geopark organisation for Anglesey, who occasionally shine a light from the upper window.
