Located across the river from West Usk, this iron tower was prefabricated then erected on site. As it was sited on marshy ground, the round tower was placed on top of iron screw piles, the top parts of which were originally visible. Dumping of fly ash from the nearby coal power plant raised the land level so that the piles are no longer visible. The area around the lighthouse is now a National Nature Reserve.
