Situated on a rocky islet off the coast of Anglesey, this is the most northerly lighthouse in Wales, as well as the second oldest. The original tower, topped by a coal brazier, was replaced with a new tapered tower in 1759, which has been rebuilt twice and surrounded with extra buildings for accommodation and machinery. A shorter tower was attached to the main tower around 1903 to accommodate a red sector light pointing northeast. It is still active, owned by Trinity House, and is also the site of a nature reserve hosting large nesting colonies of Arctic, Common and Roseate terns.
