This headland guarding the entrance to Milford Haven is the site of the earliest lighthouse in Wales, probably shining from an existing medieval church tower. A second tower was added in 1714, and both towers were replaced in 1800. The currently active light replaced one of these in 1844. From 1983 it was the centre for the remote control of the other lights around the Pembrokeshire coast, until it was automated itself in 1998.
